Try Out New Sercos Multi-Vendor Demos at Upcoming Events

Put these demos through their paces at the Assembly Show and Fabtech 2017.

Two multi-vendor interoperability demos illustrate how motion, I/O and peripheral products from several vendors can inter-operate over the Sercos automation bus. They show how Sercos, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP and CIP Safety messages can be transmitted over a single Ethernet cable without requiring additional hardware nor tunneling of the protocols.

The recently expanded multi-vendor interoperability demo #1 now includes 18 automation products from 11 manufacturers connected using the Sercos automation bus. Multi-vendor interoperability demo #2 includes 23 Sercos products from 12 manufacturers, all running interoperably.

The demos provide information on key Sercos technology. Hands-on user interaction with the demos is encouraged: rotate the encoders; perform safe motion while the light curtain is broken; push on a load cell for readout; command actuators, operate safety systems, explore gateways/bridges to other Ethernet networks and more. Real-time redundancy is shown by disturbing an Ethernet cable, disrupting one Sercos connection. The system detects the interruption within one cycle, indicates the point of interruption on the screen, switches to line mode and continues operating. After the Ethernet connection is restored, the network heals itself into redundant ring mode within one cycle while all functions continue working.
